I especially hope you do not lie sole blame with the woman as often they do not know that they will be single parents when they get pregnant, and it is unlikely to be their choice. I do not think that single parents are scum. I do however think that people do need to think of the child more than they think of themselves when they are making a decision to have kids.<br> <br> As I say above, a lot of it comes down to education. Whether or not we, on a moral level, believe that education about these things is down to parents, unwanted/unplanned pregnancies do have a cost to society and therefor we need to to strive to limit them.<br> <br> Your idea of jailing the parents, whilst maybe making the masses feel better will still leave society with the burden of bringing up the baby, prevention is always better than cure. <br> <br> You should also remember that there are many single parents out there who are able to financially and emotionally take care of their children - laws tend to deal in absolutes and a law which jailed single parents would punish these people too. Would you punish bad parenting in all its forms? What about couples who make less than ideal parents, who cannot financially support their children or who feed them too much junk food.
